Is treatment suitable for anyone?
The redlight treatment is harmless and is suitable for all skin types. People with low blood pressure or who are pregnant, suffer from epilepsy or increased light sensitivity, or are on medication that causes increased light sensitivity (e.g. antibiotics or St. John?s Wort) should, however, refrain from the treatment. For the first treatment a lower dose is recommended, to test for any adverse reaction.
The Vibra-shape training should not be carried out immediately after an operation or if recently wounded, if you have heart/hip and bone problems, during pregnancy, with bone implants, acute thrombosis, gallstones or kidney stones, or during an acute illnesses or inflammation. If you suffer from diabetes, strong migraines, have a tumour or skin cancer or in other case where there is doubt, please consult your doctor.
How long is each treatment?
The treatment should last between 10?20 minutes on average. The best results are obtained from a treatment that always lasts 20 minutes. We recommend a break of 48 hours between treatments.
What is collagen?
Collagen is the most important protein in our body. It is a fundamental building block of connective tissue and is found not only in the skin, but also in tendons, joints, ligaments, bones, blood-vessel walls – and even in the cornea in the eye. As it is collagen that determines the firmness of connective tissue, it is also called the body’s “filler”. Sufficient collagen content is therefore the main requirement for skin to have a firm appearance – and indeed the whole body. But collagen is also vitally important for the health of bones, tendons, joints, ligaments etc.
How can I reach my goals?
Most users report a relaxing effect and a fresher, softer skin even after just the first few treatments. For the best results it should be used regularly over a longer time period.
Depending on the reason for the treatment, various different treatment plans can be recommended:
For youthful skin with the aim of toning the skin, reducing impurities and protection from environmental factors 10 treatments may be enough. To freshen the skin and combat the first signs of skin aging about 20 treatments should be applied over two months. For more mature skin, and to actively combat skin aging and wrinkles, about 30 treatments over three months are commended.
Of course recommended treatment plans may vary in individual cases. Results can be further improved by the additional use of top quality skincare products. Ideally you should support your treatment by adopting a healthy lifestyle. Make sure you get enough sleep, cut out smoking, eat a balanced diet and drink at least two litres of water per day. You will see – your body and skin will thank you for it!
Do I need to protect my eyes?
Because of the bright light you should keep your eyes closed during the treatment. Wearing sunglasses helps to make the process more comfortable.
Can normal sun cosmetics be used together with Beauty Angel, and what about day creams or body lotions? Do they reduce its effect? For optimum effect you should remove make-up and cosmetics before exposure to the red light (e.g. via a peeling). Unknown cosmetics might contain ingredients which could trigger light sensitive reactions. Normal sun cosmetics should not be used. There are special skin-care products for red light treatments, which complement and intensify its action. The use of normal day cream/body lotion after a red light treatment is not necessary, but will not have any negative effect on the results.
Some possible negative effects of ingredients (e.g. silicon oils: block the pores and prevent the skin breathing – or parabens: act like hormones and change the skin reactions) may cancel out the effects of the red light treatment.
What are the influences for skin aging?
Skin aging is influenced by numerous factors. The supply of nutrients to the epidermis (outer layer of skin) already starts to decline from the age of 25 onwards, resulting in a tired, sallow and uneven complexion. As people get older, fibroblast (cells that produce collagen) metabolism slows down, resulting in a continual decline in the collagen content of the skin. Since collagen is the primary »filler« in connective tissue, the skin loses tautness. The reduced cell regeneration also causes a loss of moisture and elasticity, ultimately resulting in the formation of wrinkles.
What about recent tattoos, piercings, liposuction or peeling?
Red light treatment is also used medically to heal wounds. But in order to completely eliminate any risk of infection, if you have open wounds, new or inflamed tattoos, piercings etc. you should wait until they have fully healed.
Unlike with tanning beds, piercings should not be removed to avoid any physical irritation of the pierced opening which might occur e.g. with newly healed piercings (reactivation).
A gentle peeling before the red light treatment provides the perfect complement, as it improves penetration into the skin.
Can I use the BEAUTY ANGEL even though I have breast implants?
If you have normal, problem-free breast implants, there should not be any risk involved in a full body treatment using the BEAUTY ANGEL. For safety reasons, you should first carry out a 5-minute test treatment in order to check how well the treatment is tolerated.
I have a tattoo. Can I still use the BEAUTY ANGEL?
There is nothing that would lead to any harmful interactions with red light sessions and tattoos. The BEAUTY ANGEL generates light energy primarily in the near infrared and visible regions of the light spectrum (non-UV). Because these are never stronger than natural sunlight, unwanted side effects like fading of tattoos are very unlikely. However, if any symptoms occur that could indicate an incompatibility, you should stop use this type of light treatment. As always, if you have any concerns about using the BEAUTY ANGEL, you should consult with your physician or other healthcare professional.
Can I have a red light treatment after or during a permanent hair removal treatment?
Permanent hair removal (laser, JPL) is carried out using a substantial input of light energy in the form of strong light beams. This irritates the skin and causes a change in its light tolerance. For safety reasons, for at least 48 hours before and at least 48 hours after light-based hair removal you should not be exposed to any red light treatment.
What about artificial nails?
No problem with these. But if nail growth is stimulated by the red light treatment then artificial nails can prove a bit of nuisance.
What do I need to look out for with varicose veins/spider veins?
The presence of varicose veins and spider veins does not prevent using the red light treatment. But there is no history of red light treatment improving them. If there is any risk of vein thrombosis or an acute vein infection then the treatment should not be carried out.
Infra-red rays are supposed to destroy fat cells. Is it true, and can it help me lose weight?
The light spectrum used by Beauty Light lies within the range of visible light. Only the Energizing Light Technology (CHP plus) also uses a part of the near-infrared range (up to about 850 nm). This range is not suitable for destroying fat cells. Although there is a study in which the combined application of near-infrared with suitable movement training led to a reduction in layers of fat compared to the control group without near-infrared.
